  1. On the righthand side, Select a State from the dropdown list.
  2. Click on the  GO!  button.
  3. The map will focus to the selected State and highlight the Counties with active plantings in light green.
  4. Details about the state plantings will be displayed in the legend.
  5. To Navigate:
    You can left-click and drag your mouse in the map view to pan left/right or up/down.
    You can use the Zoom controls on the left side of the map to zoom in (+) and out (-)
    OR you can hold the "SHIFT" key while dragging the mouse to draw a box on the screen to zoom into the selected area.
    Click on the    icon to reset the view.
  1. Click on any of the light green areas to see planting details for the selected County.
  2. Click on the  Show active ZIP/Postal Codes  link.
  1. You'll see a firefly icon for each ZIP/Postal Code with native plantings
  2. Click on any of the fireflies to see more details for the selected ZIP/Postal Code.
Yes. You will need to create an account to record your plantings on the Homegrown National Park map. You can add preivous plantings from years ago and new plantings going forward.
  1. Click on the  GET ON THE MAP!  button on the main header.
  2. Use the form to enter your information. Always use the dropdowns to select User Type, Country, State, County and ZIP/Postal Code.
    * If your ZIP code is not on the dropdown list, see #8 below.
  3. Double check the email you entered and click on the  SUBMIT  button.
  4. A verification email will be sent to the email address you entered on the form (it can take a few minutes to arrive).
    Check your spam folder if you do not receive the verification email.
    The account activation link will expire in 30 days. After that time, contact support for a new activation link.
  5. Click on the link in the email. It will redirect you to a page to set your account password.
  6. Enter your account password based on the password instructions. You'll need to confirm the password by entering it again.
  7. If you entered a valid password you'll be automatically login into your new account.
  8. Only if your ZIP/Postal code is not listed, you can enter it by clicking the  CLICK TO ADD ZIP/POSTAL CODE  button.
Sometimes it takes a short while to receive your activation email. Please be patient, if the email was entered correctly you'll recieve an activation email. If some time goes by and you've not received the activation email, then feel free to reach out to support for assistance.
  1. Click on the  SIGN IN  button on the main header.
  2. You'll see the LOGIN TO ACCOUNT form
  3. Click on the  Forgot Password?  link toward the bottom of the form to reset you password.
  4. You'll be redirected to the PASSWORD RESET form where you can enter your account's email.
  5. Click on the  SEND RESET LINK  button.
  6. A password reset email will be sent to the email address you entered on the form (it can take a few minutes to arrive).
  7. Click on the link in the email. It will redirect you to a page to rest your password.
  1. Click on the  SIGN IN  button on the main header to login to your existing account.
  2. Enter the email and password you used when you created your account and click on the  LOGIN  button.
  3. Click on the  RECORD A NATIVE PLANTING  button to record an existing or new planting.
  4. Select the State, County and ZIP Code for the planting and enter the approximate planting date and planting size.
  5. Click on the  SAVE  button.
  6. Click on the    button to edit any of the sections.
  7. Click on the  ADD A PLANTING GOAL  link to add a planting goal and track your progress.
Yes, we'd love for you to enter your previous native plantings. The goal of Homegrown National Park it to estimate/track the total size of native plantings across the country. You can add all your previous plantings as one entry (and estimate the date and size) or enter as separate entries.
No, you can guesstimate it based on the size of the overall property. It does not have to be exact, just do your best to get close.
You can guesstimate the date; it does not have to be exact. If you know you planted a native garden in summer of 1995, pick any date during that time. The planting date is mainly for tracking growth. We know people have been planting natively for years and may not remember the exact dates - that's OK.
Yes, you can enter plantings from other properites you own in other States, Counties or ZIP/Postal codes under the same account.
Absolutely, provided that the property is privately held. If the plantings are for parks, golf courses, etc. the entry should be made by the respective property owners.
In order to respect our user's privacy, we track plantings by ZIP/Postal Code and not by actual address. The "fireflies" will be placed at the approximate center of the entire ZIP/Postal Code area.
On the sign up form you can enter a ZIP/Postal code only if it's not on the dropdown list. You can also pick the closest ZIP/Postal code in your county.
This is not an option at this time. We are always looking to add functionality and may consider this in the future.
